Jon Davey, MD of LiaiseOnline and creator of Business in Berkshire is launching a brand new concept in education and entertainment. Online Marketing Magic was born out of a need to get to decision makers within organisation with sales and marketing budgets.
Jon’s first “proper job” was with Nestle Foodservice selling catering products to hotels, restaurants and cash and carry’s around the north of England. He followed this with 7 years at Johnson & Johnson, launching Acuvue contact lenses into the optical market, changing the mindset of professionals along the way. Heading for 31 Jon went off to do his own thing... so he understands the sales world. Most small businesses don’t like to part with money unless they are 100% sure of success and understandably so. You can find these ladies and gents out networking so can build a relationship over time and one day a percentage will go OK, I’ve heard enough, time to give it a go. A similar percentage will never make a decision as they HATE spending money with anyone!! When it comes to businesses that turn over a couple of million and have a small sales team then they could have the budget available for marketing but the sales manager may well have been spending so long at the coal face, closing deals and making money that you will never find them out networking and as soon as you start talking “online marketing” they may well glaze over and start thinking about the next deal and how they should approach it. Your words lost in the ether!! The idea of Online Marketing Magic is that sales men and women who are brilliant at what they do can come and learn a little about what is happening online and how they could use certain tools, services, ideas to generate business leads that they could then close in the traditional way. I foresee that in the future, every sales team will have an online person to lead generate on their behalf. Hopefully someone who is more sales than marketing focussed because the conversations online could be in real time and therefore the words written need to be authentic and with practical wisdom of the product or service on offer. Online Marketing Magic enables these sales professionals to come and listen to 10 x 15 minute presentations with 10 minutes for questions. There is a break for lunch and the day starts at 9:30am finishing at 3pm so bite size quality presentations and time to get the email sorted before bedtime!!
